Adventure Nights has finished its third night.

It has been a good week so far, with lots of kids engaging in lots of activity with lots of enthusiasm. Most important, though, is the fact that the message of the Gospel is being proclaimed every night to young receptive hearts.

Let’s keep praying. It is God who is at work here.

Many have said they are tired. It is a good tired, they say, but tired nonetheless… Pray for continued strength for safe activities and gracious instruction.

Pray for perspective. What is happening has eternal significance. The Gospel we proclaim has eternal consequences and can impact generations of lives.

As you pray, remember. You are engaging in a real spiritual battle. The enemy does not like it, but God is sovereign and has already defeated the greatest enemy to face mankind, death!

By all mean, please pray, and pray with confidence. Let the fact that Jesus, God’s perfect Son, lived a perfectly obedient life, died as a perfect sacrifice for our sins, and rose from the dead to conquer sin forever bring you strength.

“… assumptions are important. Ultimately, they put on shoes and go walking, practically affecting our parenting…. First, effective Christian parents assume that parenting will not be easy, but that the rewards will ultimately make it all worthwhile. Second, effective Christian parents are willing to hold God’s sovereignty and their responsibility in tension. Third, effective Christian parents assume an offensive mind-set. They pursue their children’s hearts. They do everything possible to make the gospel attractive. Protecting their children from worldly influence is not their fundamental goal. Fourth, effective Christian parents are shrewd about new birth. They do not assume it. They understand the nature of new birth, and they carefully look for its symptoms. Fifth, effective Christian parents labor to focus their families on God, not their children. In all of this, we have continually referenced the gospel.”

How exciting it has been as the Northpoint children have started again to study Genesis. We have been looking at the consequence of the Fall and how different it has been ever since. Here are some highlights:

First Adam and Eve were in the Garden – walking with God, then they ended up hiding from Him;

There was no shame – and then we find shame;

They were filled with joy – then fear;

Adam and Eve enjoyed taking care of the garden – then they are cast out and have to toil in the dirt to survive;

They would have had life forever with God – then they had to die for their disobedience;

There was no pain or suffering – then there was;

They had a perfect relationship with God – then they were separated from Him.

The Good News is that we have a God who still loves us and offers us the chance to have a relationship with Him. He offers us, in a way, an opportunity to be with Him like it was in the garden. We may still experience pain and suffering, but we can now also experience His love, His forgiveness, His guidance, and an eternity of forever joy with Him again. –John 3:16

As we see celebrations of death, gore, darkness and fear at this time of year with Halloween, let us take this great opportunity to show and share to our children and the world that we know the only way out of the darkness, gore, fear and of the death of this world. We have Jesus Christ, the all-powerful God, with us. If you dress up, think about dressing up in a way that helps to share Him. Maybe offer candy, along with something that has God’s Word on it. In addition, come to Country Fair and look to share what God has done for you with complete strangers.

He is with you and will help you share this most important point of life: “The Lord is the light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold in my life – of whom shall I be afraid? –Psalm 27:1

For God’s Kids,

Do you realize we are having an average of 20 children in each of our elementary classes each Sunday morning. Except, of course, that crazy 4th grade class that been topping around 30!
How very exciting it is and yet what an amazing responsibility God has given us to shepherd these children so they will come to learn His Word, open their heart to trust and obey Him with a daily and everlasting love.

Please continue to pray for all the children’s Sunday School teachers, assistants, small group leaders, and Hang Time Patrollers that they continue to do what they do with excellence for these children.

As the children are starting again now tn the Old Testament, we are in awe of how All-Powerful our Creator God is!

Okay Kids! Our Children’s Winter Camp is coming around the corner. January 7th – 9th, 2011, our 4th through 6th graders will be going up to Pine Summit for a weekend full of Bible study, fellowship, and fun! This year, our theme is “One Way,” and will be presented by our guest speaker, Todd Sorrell.

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” - John 14:6

We will all die someday. The question you must answer before that day is this: How do I get to Heaven? The world will tell you that there are many ways to get there. Most people will even say that they should be permitted to enter heaven because they are “good.” But God has given us a different answer. He says that we have all sinned; none is perfect. He also says that the result of our sin is death and hell. Forever. If knowing that fact terrifies and saddens you, then you’re ready for the Good News! God has provided One Answer to the problem. One Payment to avoid having to go to hell. One Way to Heaven. Jesus! Do you understand what that truly means? If so, then you are ready to really start living for God. If not, you need to learn how much God loves you and how much He wants you to be in Heaven with Him someday. Forever. So no matter what your understanding of Heaven is and how to get there, this weekend will provide you with the simple answer to the most important question you can ask: There is One Way to God, and it is through Jesus Christ. Don’t be fooled by any other answer!

About our Speaker:

Todd Sorrell grew up raising sheep, pigs, and cows in Bakersfield, California. Once he had hiss fill of dirt clod fights with his brothers, Todd graduated with a degree in Spanish from UCSB, where he was involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. He then went on to graduate from UCLA School of Law, where he headed the Christian Legal Society. Todd married his beautiful wife, Celia, and they have three kids – Alexis (11), Ethan (10), and Chloe (8). He has written a number of books, including his most recent, “Journey to the Bending Light,” a Christian allegory directed to the elementary and middle school levels. Todd loves to teach Sunday School at San Gabriel Union Church, where he and his wife are members. He has spoken at both public and private schools about his faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Oh yeah… we almost forgot. Todd is blessed to be a corporate trial lawyer for one of the biggest law firms in the world, where he is a partner. And… he is really good at snowball fights!!
