Northpoint has 25 people who will be ministering to and with the Navajo and Hopi Christians February 17th through 20th, 2012. They will be conducting an adult conference along with teaching and training on a number of different topics. Some of the topics will include, “What is a Christian?”, “How to study the Bible”, “Parenting Issues”, and “Glorifying God in our work”. They will also be leading two worship services.

Their primary goal is to build relationships so that we can have an ongoing ministry to adults and children in Tuba City.

Pray the Lord will bless this ministry to His glory, and the furtherance of His Kingdom.

Morning from Quito,

It’s Friday morning…we finished our 5th & final clinic yesterday and drove 5 hours through the Andres back to Quito. By every accounting, our trip was a great success and we’re thankful to our Lord for His grace over all that we did.

Each day people received medical care, had teeth pulled, received reading glasses, got community health instruction, had a new water filtration system installed for their community and heard the gospel through both personal testimony & sharing of an evangelistic film. I don’t have any final numbers, but there were many who professed faith in Christ. As always, I asked people I talked to if they’d ever heard this message before…almost all of them said, “no, they’d never heard it!”

We did return to one village where we’d worked 4-5 years earlier. Our national leader didn’t think that the church plant from that trip “took” and so we were going to try again. Much to our surprise, a flourishing church with 40 adults and 60 children were there (this is a community of 300 people)…SOME OF THEM REMEMBERED US! And, we remembered some of them. I wonder if what we felt was similar to how Paul felt when he returned to churches that he’d started?

Well, thanks for your prayers…please pray us home now! We’ll be tired, but anxious to share our stories when we see you…and, of course, hear how you’ve done while we were gone.

“Free at last!” The words of the famous song were sung by many today as people gathered to celebrate the birth of a new nation- the Republic of South Sudan. I met three ladies early this morning on their way to the celebration who told me, “Today is a great day for our nation! It makes our troubles worthwhile. We are free! We are a people and we are a nation.”

The neighbors in the north have told the Southern Sudan black and christian alike, that they were not human, but worst than slaves. But today the sentiments and feelings of the majority of the new nation were made clear through signs, songs, tears, joy, and celebration. Today their dignity is defended. Today, the people of Southern Sudan are free. What a joy to witness such a historic moment in the life of a nation whose people have suffered so much.

Carranza is the name of a neighborhood community, or colonia, in Mexicali, Mexico. Our church began a relationship, a partnership really, with the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church congregation in 1992. Dale Payne, who was youth pastor of our church from 1991 to 2002, established this partnership with the church in order to involve the youth of our church in evangelistic outreach. Pastor Antonio Camarillo has been the pastor of Mt. Sinai since 1989 and continues to welcome our involvement in evangelism, training and service. Northpoint takes a team of volunteers twice a year to do door to door visitation in the community. We also work together with the church to invite the community to an outreach event, sometimes at the church and sometimes in a local park. We encourage their AWANA Club and rejoice with them as it continues to grow and reach boys, girls and families with the gospel. The goal always is to share the gospel and strengthen relationships that glorify God and build His kingdom.

Remarkable changes are taking place in the Arab world. The Tunisian uprising seems to have unleashed pent up anger and frustration. There has been overwhelming support for the revolution in Egypt in the toppling of its dictator (though difficult days lie ahead). The Arab world appears to be largely unified in the rejection of authoritarian leaders and rule by a handful of political and financial elite. There seems to be a yearning for freedom, for a voice in one’s government, and for respect for human dignity and human rights. There is a groundswell for emancipation from repressive regimes and from the grip of poverty.

Please pray for peaceful solutions. Pray for courage on the part of world leaders to speak to atrocities. Pray for Christians in these deeply difficult areas. The vacuum in power could result in positive changes or could result in opportunity for radicalism.

“Not heard the call,” I think you should say.
Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father’s house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there. Then look Christ in the face – whose mercy you have professed to obey – and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.

“God’s questions were not only for Isaiah. His call is for everybody who will listen and respond. The prophet heard and instantly responded, so God sent him to tell everybody who would listen about the greatness and healing power of God. Isaiah was eager to respond because all of his excuses had been burned away by that hot coal. When our sins are exposed in the light of God’s presence, we feel ruined; but when we experience forgiveness in the depths of our souls, we become fresh, clean and new. We are eager to please God in any way we can. When He calls, we hear and go.”
