Join us as we walk to raise awareness and funds for the important life-giving work of Corona Life Services, an organization Northpoint has strongly supported over the years. Their mission is “To reach Corona, Norco and the surrounding communities with information and resources to help them choose life. Northpoint participated in the 2011 Corona Relay for Life this last Saturday and Sunday and were well represented with over 90 registered walkers covering all 24 hours of the event. In addition, we had close to 50 of our youth walking during the early morning hours on Sunday. Northpoint raised over $5000 for cancer research and had the most cancer survivors registered and walking in the Relay. Our newest Pastor, Brent Whitefield, led the prayer at the luminary ceremony. Northpoint has a strong connection with the Headstart Program in Corona. One of the ways we help serve this organization is by having Northpoint volunteers read age appropriate books to the Headstart students during the school year. Recently Northpoint volunteer Mike Brooks had the opportunity to read “in costume”. Mike dressed up as “The Cat in the Hat” during a special reading theme highlighting Dr. Seuss. Mike has been reading to two classes each week and we have room (and a request) to add other volunteers to read one day a week to a class of eager and appreciative 4 year olds. The missions range from bringing the spirit of Christmas to the needy in our community to supporting the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
