Posted on April 24th, 2012 |No Comments
There are a couple of events to mark your calendars for in the coming weeks. The Rejoice! Children's Choir will be singing in the morning worship services on May 13, 2012. I hope you will share in my excitement as I look forward to hearing our young ones lead us into worship that morning. Also, the Celebration Choir is hard at work preparing for their final concert of the season before the summer break. Make plans to join us on Sunday evening, June 3, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., in the Northpoint Auditorium, for the concert, How Can I Keep From Singing: A Celebration of Early American Music. The performance will feature music from the 1750s to early 1900s that reflects the early American musical traditions that came out of the Shaker movement, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War.      POWERPOINT 10.02.11 1. THE NATURE OF DOUBT Mark 8:1-21 2. AN EXAMPLE OF MISSIONAL PRIORITY 3. Mission implies: 1) Being sent and 2) Being assigned a specific task. 4. “If everything is mission, nothing is mission.” Stephen Neill 5. Disciple-making, while being the church’s primary mission, does not happen at the expense of caring for the vulnerable. 6. “Yes, Jesus performed miracles…but the Gospels actually downplay them. Though he never denied someone who asked for a physical healing, he always turned down requests for a demonstration to amaze crowds and impress important people. Jesus recognized early on that the excitement generated by miracles did not readily convert into life-changing faith.” Philip Yancey 7. Acts of compassion, beneficence, even miracles are not sufficient to lead pe... Continue reading...

Also, the adult Celebration Choir is working up a spectacular variety of music for th Symphony of Praise concert coming up on June 5.  Mark your calendars.  More details to come!...
