Sunday Mornings

Early Childhood

Early Childhood consists of both our Nursery Ministry and two through Kindergarten Sunday School programs.  Our Nursery Ministry exists to glorify God by showing God’s love and grace to infants, toddlers, and their parents through caring for the needs of children under two years of age.  Sunday School for this age group exists to train children to learn from God’s Word, to live in God’s way, so they can reach out to this world with God’s truth and love.

Children are a precious gift from God.  As such, we strive to minister to the needs of our children in the nursery with the utmost care.  We strive to make our nursery warm, safe, clean, and organized.

Our Sunday School is designed for our children to experience a special time of bonding together as they strive to learn the counsel of God’s Word.  We teach them to use their Bibles to understand who God is, what He does, and how they fit into His great plan.  Our curriculum is Generations of Grace.  It is designed to cover all the major Bible stories within a three year plan.  All of our children’s classes, from early childhood through 6th grade, will be studying the same lesson each Sunday in an age appropriate manner.

Our staff for Early Childhood is made up of adult and youth volunteers who have been carefully screened and trained.  Nursery Ministers are committed to caring for the infants and toddlers according to the parents’s desires and within the guidelines of our Nursery Ministry.  All Sunday School teachers and helpers are committed to loving children, challenging them, and training them God’s way.

The Early Childhood check-in-room is located in A11 at the southwest end of the Andrew Building.

Elementary

We wish to thank you for the privilege to support your children in their quest to grow in the knowledge and admonition of their Savior.  Below is an outline of what we offer your children on a Sunday morning.

First Service – 9:00 – 10:15

Discovery Zone Kinds are the 1st through 3rd graders and the Great Adventure Kids are our 4th through 6th graders.  We all meet in room T100 to start our program which includes music, a Bible story, small group discussion related to the story, and prayer time.

Between Services – 10:20 – 10:45

“Hang Time” is that special time between service when parents can enjoy a little coffee and fellowship with each other in the Heritage Hall courtyard while their kids are having a blast in room T100 where board games, play dough, painting… all are happening.  They may choose to play on the playground as well.  The 4th through 6th grade boys are welcome to play football or soccer on the far grass field if we have an adult for supervision.

Second Service – 10:45 – 12:05

Our Sunday School time includes a Bible lesson given by the classroom teacher.  The children will go over a class worksheet, engage in a discussion related to the lesson, prayer, and possibly complete a craft built around the lesson theme.  1st and 2nd grade teachers teach every Sunday and our 3rd though 6th grade teachers serve every other month.  We feel blessed to have the same familiar teachers who are so dedicated and committed to your children each week.  Please check the teacher board that is located at the registration table to see who your Children’s Ministry Team Leaders are.

Curriculum:

Our curriculum is Generations of Grace.  It is a three year cycle curriculum impacting three stages of childhood development from three years old through sixth grade.  Our curriculum covers many of the main Bible stories of the Old Testament and New Testament, beginning in Genesis and ending in Revelation.

The Take Home Challenge is the colored paper that your child leaves with each Sunday and is designed specifically for you to know what we are teaching and to go over with your child.  Included is a note for parents, Time 4 Truth questions, and questions regarding our lesson story for that day.

We encourage and welcome you to observe your child’s class at any time.  If you would like to review the curriculum with the children’s leaders, we have bi-monthly Children’s Ministry Team meetings between services.  The dates of the meetings are available upon request.

If you would like to serve in the Children’s Ministry, we have a host of opportunities on Sunday and throughout the week.  On Sunday you could help by checking children in at the registration table, playing with the children at “Hang Time,” or leading children in a small group setting.  We do require all adults who work with our children to go through a screening process.
