40 Years
I read a quote this past week when studying the crossing of the Red Sea in Exodus. “It only took one night to get the Israelites out of Egypt, but it took 40 years to get Egypt out of Israel.” Wow! Man, I definitely feel like that sometimes.
Has God ever led you through something, and you thought you had learned who He is or what He wanted you to learn? And then a year or so later, you’re right there again! Have you ever felt like screaming, “Okay, God! I get it! You want me to learn something here. But every time I think I’ve got it figured out, I end up right back in the same spot again. So could You please just tell me what it is You want me to know?!” I think that if we’re honest, we’ve all had some form of that conversation with God.
It only took one night to get the Israelites out of Egypt, but it took 40 years to get Egypt out of the Israelites. Okay God, I don’t know why You’re leading me down this road again. But I will stay faithful and wait for You.
