Notice Me – from last week’s WOW teaching
Man puffs himself up and shouts, “Notice me!”, while Christ empties Himself and responds, “Notice Me!”
The gospel of God’s grace leaves no room for personal. God is not impressed with our looks, our social position, our achievements, our natural heritage, or our financial status. But I love to look at the opposite truth: God is not repulsed by my weaknesses and imperfections. He is not ashamed of my flaws or failures. He is not unwilling to call the likes of me His very own.
Paul reminds the Corinthians: God called you, not because of what you are, but in spite of what you are! God chose the foolish, the weak, the base, and the despised to show the proud world their need and His grace. The lost world admires birth, social status, financial success, power and recognition. But none of these things can guarantee eternal life.
