A Dream Come True
By: Amber McEwen
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever” – Revelation 22:1-5
Sounds pretty sweet, huh? Revelation 21 promises us things like no more separation, no more tears, no more death or mourning or crying or pain. It tells us that God will dwell with us, that we will have His heritage. The New Jerusalem is described as “having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, clear crystal.” I can’t wait!
I had a friend who loved to walk through model homes. We would walk through them and dream. We’d take note of the things we loved and the things we hated. We would note layouts that matched the desires of our hearts perfectly, and talk about how we would change other layouts to more suit our needs.
Have you ever gone back home, or even to a friend’s house, after a long absence? The one who knows you so well will prepare for your visit. They will maybe make you your favorite dinner, have your favorite flower in the guest room, plan a favorite activity…
The One who knows us best is preparing a home for us! It won’t be a model home where we can think about changes we would make. He is preparing it just for us… and it isn’t for a short visit… it is for an eternity! Man! I long to be there!
