A New Season Begins!

Hello Church Family,

Today we are pleased to announce a new season of our Northpoint blog series, Encourage One Another. This blog series is designed to set the vision of our church, and encourage and edify one another. We have found that the All-church Email each week has a host of great information about ministries here at Northpoint. It also includes periodic financial updates and leadership team updates. All of these items are worth communicating. Yet, we want to continue providing spiritual resources as well.

What should you expect this season? A series of blog articles written by members of Northpoint on the topic of discipleship. This season we will explore topics such as: What is discipleship? How do we disciple one another? How are Northpoint members discipling one another? How can we better disciple one another? In what ways is discipleship life-changing and transformative?

There are more reasons why we think it is a good move to continue producing helpful thinking and reflection in our Encourage One Another blog. It was Jesus himself who said to his disciples, “You are the salt of the earth (and) you are the light of the world” (see Matthew 5:13-14). As members of one another, we are salt and light in a world that is both decaying and dark. We have a message that has the power to change the world. This message is none other than the gospel of Jesus Christ. This gospel is rooted in the cross, where Jesus died for sinners. Furthermore, through the power of the resurrection, we understand that we have a message worth proclaiming to the world, but we also have a message that comes to the world in relationships.

Our church, Northpoint Church, is just one local church expression of the body of Christ. We are also a family. It is here at Northpoint church that hundreds of people find their community, connection point, and service in the kingdom. We are not ashamed about what the Lord is doing through this church and are excited that we will have another opportunity to write about the impact of the gospel here at Northpoint church.

We hope that you will stay tuned for the weeks ahead and look forward to our blog articles each week on Tuesday afternoons. We hope that this series will not only be an encouragement for you but will provide nourishment for your soul. As you prepare for the next season, we want to highlight two upcoming opportunities apart from our awesome Bible studies for further discipleship.

The first opportunity is our upcoming Northpoint Forum on the origin and goodness of work. We are told that we will spend over 90,000 hours at work. Want to know how to view these hours at work from a Christian perspective? Whether you are a CEO, a school teacher, an engineer, a nurse, retired, or a stay-at-home mom, we work for the Lord. We hope you will be interested in learning from Dr. Greg Cochran, the pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church and Director of the Applied Theology program at CBU. With no prep needed, we invite you to take two hours out of your evening on January 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., to attend our Workplace Forum. There is no cost, and childcare will be provided.

The second opportunity is our upcoming core class on Northpoint’s theology. In Ephesians, Paul prayed that Christians would comprehend the breadth, depth, height, and length of the knowledge of the love of Christ that surpasses mere human knowledge. This knowledge of God’s love is understood through the study of theology for the people of God. We invite you to join us for our Northpoint Theology I course that will look at the doctrine of Scripture, the Trinity, and the attributes of God in order to grow in our knowledge of God’s love. The class is a perfect fit for established believers and those new to the faith. We will meet from January 15 through April 2, in the Commons, during first service, from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Childcare will be provided for second service so that families can attend our second service.
