CloseDrawing on the work of the prophet Isaiah, Peter here offers his mostly Gentile readership a lesson in Old Testament theology and its application. So rich is this passage that a careful examination not only shows the unmistakable prophetic witness to Christ’s atoning work, but it discredits several of the prevailing heresies of our day. At the same time, Peter stays close to the central objective of the epistle: to prepare Christians for the persecution and sufferings they have been called to endure.
