Understanding Your Heart
Began Sunday, February 20, at 9:00 a.m., in the Commons
What is the heart?
How do we change our hearts?
What does the heart respond to?
Pastor Taylor Mendoza will look at the human heart biblically, theologically, and practically with the new seven-week class, Understanding Your Heart. Each session will include a review of the previous week’s reading, discussion, and a new teaching session. The class will consider questions such as: What is the heart? How do we change our hearts? What does the heart respond to? There are at least four reasons why you should consider taking this class:
1. Jesus commanded us to love him with “all our heart” (Matthew 22:37-40).
2. The word “heart” is used over 1,000 times in the Bible to talk about our inner life.
3. The word “heart” is misunderstood and misused today. In our present culture, it often refers to our emotions only and is used in the popular phrase “follow your heart.”
4. The gospel of Jesus Christ speaks to a sinful heart, comforts a broken heart, inspires a fearful heart, and makes new a heart that loves the Lord.
